Rose,Rose,I Love You

Synopsis
During the time of war , the U.S. military sent their senior officers to Hualian for R & R. Three Hualian brothel bosses decide to make some money by opening a bar. They even hire teachers to teach the bar girls to speak English and pick a dozen or so prostitutes to go to work, including one of the bossed ‘ mistress, A-fen.
The teacher starts to teach the girls English, how to mix drinks, even how to use protection as to avoid VD from the soldiers. After their training, with everyone dressed up and waiting for the arrival of the U.S. soldiers, a telegram instructing the soldiers to be sent to Kaohsiung instead.

The Drifter

Synopsis
A cynical young drifter, Liu, works in a restaurant but mostly plays billiards to make money. He meets Hsiao Yeh, who lives alone in Taipei and they hit it off. Young Liu asks Hsiao Yeh to live with him but doesn’t take her seriously, even though Hsiao Yeh has fallen in love with him.
Young Liu slacks off at work, plays pool all the time and gets schooled by a pool shark. He loses a lot of money. In trying to get it back, he falls harder. To try to save them, Hsiao Yeh becomes a prostitute to raise money but she learns the hard way that Liu is an old dog that cannot learn any new tricks and that, through their hardships , tragedy eventually awaits them.

Basketball Dreams

Synopsis
Basketball fan Yu Bing falls for the school’s basketball star Li Wei. He is embarrassed by Li Wei’s friend at a dance, in danger, writes an article, attacking Li Wei for her lack of team spirit. When Li Wei finds out, she calls him out to explain. A relationship between them ensues but after a while, Li Wei starts to focus on her own future and stops seeing him. Meanwhile Su Li, a girl with a Crush on Yu Bing, tries to get close to him. While drunk, Yu Bing, mistakes her for Li Wei and sleeps with her.
Li Wei, in trying to escape her family problems, goes abroad to study. Su Li also emigrates with her family, leaving Yu Bing alone on the basketball court to figure out his own future.

Yes,Sir!

Synopsis
Lin Wei-yang is an idealistic but lonely rebel. Song Si-Lang tries to avoid being drafted by losing weight and failing the physical. Tsao shih-Jong is a shy and weak boy from a wealthy family. Ou Ping owes a gambling debt and enlists so that he can avoid paying back what he owes.
This group of misfits face the harsh training of Drill Sergeant Sun, but despite his seemingly cruel and intense ways, these boys grow to learn their share of lessons. Slowly, they begin to understand and appreciate their drill sergeant and realize life in the army isn’t bad after all.

 


No Turning Back

Synopsis
Lin Ting-pang, Chin Cheng-kuo, Shi Chuan and Luo Chih-cheng join the police academy and become good friends. After graduation, Lin and Chin become police detectives, while Shi and Luo get sent to traffic duty.
When a family is found murdered, Lin and Chin find clues leading them to a gangster. In a confrontation, Lin kills the gangster, but later discovers the gangster’s gun had no bullets. Lin is forced to turn in his gun pending further investigation. One day, Lin runs into Shi and Luo and as he leaves, hears gunfire. He turns and sees his friends being shot. Lin watches helplessly as his friends die at the hands of a gangster’s gun. Lin becomes determined to find the gangsters responsible for his friends’ death. In doing so, he can bring the killers to justice and at the same time, regain his honor as a policeman.

 


For The Love Of Music

Synopsis
Lee Da-wei is a prodigy. Born the only son into a scholarly family, his parents put endless pressure on him to do well. Fortunately, he has found himself in music.
His father forces him to go to a cram school, hoping that it will help him get into university. But Da-wei shows no interest in class and instead meets a music friend in the class, and secretly forms a band with him.
A once-successful-but-now floundering record company quickly discovers his musical talent and as he becomes famous, starts to mingle with the A-list crowd. At the same time he slowly becomes estranged with his friend and former music partner. Eventually his success makes him feel lonely and fulfilled. He remembers his roots and tracks down his partner to perform with him again, finding again, the joy of music they once shared.

Synopsis
While preparing for a conference, famous columnist, Chang Hui-hsin, stays at a remote mountain resort with her husband, Lee Hsien-lin, a cosmetic surgeon. Their plans for a quiet and relaxing stay take a detour when they find out that a mysterious actress, Lu Ping, is staying next door. Lu Ping catches the attention of Hsien-lin and things start to heat up between them.
In her husband’s neglect, Hui-hsin starts to have visions of her daughter, Amy, who died of a suicide a year before. The trauma and subsequent schizophrenia caused by her daughter’s death returns. Hsien-lin, while trying to deal with his wife’s declining mental state, tries to hide his involvement with Lu Ping. As the couple’s relationship comes under strain, Amy appears more and more frequently.
Questions about Amy’s death start to arise. As Hui-hsin thinks back about what happened, she remembers finding Hsien-lin and Amy drunk, in a compromising position. Details about what happened with Amy begin to surface and soon it is obvious that there is more going on than meets the eye. As distrust starts to fester and suspicions about Amy’s death abound, Amy’s sudden reappearance has everyone on edge and wondering if their past, like a bad moon rising, has come back to haunt them…

The Secret Pearl

Synopsis
During the eight-year Sino-Japanese war, the Japanese forces run amuck in China. At the German military post in Ching Dao, the Chinese espionage team works diligently against the enemy, while trying to smuggle goods for their troops. One girl secretly works underground and opens a bar called Pearl, which attracts people from all over, including gangster Sun-Yue, and drifter Hsiao Hei.
One day, a batch of munitions is planned for shipment out from the German military warehouse. The girl wants to intercept the shipment and comes up with a plan to steal secret documents from the German Commander. But she needs Sun-yue’s help. As they try to carry out this secret mission, she learns firsthand that war has its casualties.

Synopsis

Oxcart Dowry

Synopsis
Villager A-Hao with simple, near-deaf husband Wan-Fa, lives a poor but simple rural life together with their young son, A-Gou. When young strong drifter Lao Jian moves in next door, A-Hao and Lao Jian, and the villagers start to talk. When word gets to Wan Fa, he becomes very angry. He tries to ignore what is happening, but kicks Lao Jian out. While leaving, distressed Wan-Fa runs over the neighbor’s child while driving his ox cart and is sentenced to prison. When he realizes that there will be no one to take care of his wife and child, he reconsiders the situation. In the end, old Wan-Fa and Lao Jian manager to work things out and make an arrangement everyone can live with.
